Reflections on Spring: Reflecting

Reflecting Inward/Outward

Artists will often turn their cameras on themselves in order to make work to navigate the challenge of being both author and participant. In this way the challenge of bringing pictorial planes together can be accomplished. In this present time, when screens and masks that screen us become physical barriers, artists have found ways to reflect their work and empathic approach to making digital connections that feel inherently real.

"We all play a role in this, think of it as a team effort. Some days are harder than others, but sometimes I forget I’m not alone."

“How Can I Help? - An Artful Dialogue presents an artistic rendition of a psychotherapy office environment in a pop-up exhibition space decorated with images from my series Initial Intake. This unique installation hosts either a select group of artists or myself holding “office hours,” offering sincere responses to visitors in creative therapeutic consultation."

"On paper, the practice of logging on to a video-conferencing site to sit quietly with other people for hours may hold limited appeal. However, in practice, silent Zoom meetings seem to be an unexpected lifeline for folks trying to focus on a project in lockdown. The idea is to keep all of us who are working from home motivated, like co-working in a library or coffee shop often does.
